An important thing to remember in the spiritual life is to be in constant thanks to God for His infinite goodness and perfection. Such a focus in our spiritual life inevitably leads us to avoid being constantly discouraged by our sins, and instead insures and encourages us to pray for the grace of God in perfect confidence.
Oh God I give You thanks, my humble thanks,
for Your goodness and perfection.
I love You for Your infinite goodness and perfection.
Have mercy on me for my sins,
and lead me away from temptations and deliver me from evil.
Fill me with Your grace to love You and to do all that
You wish for me to do in the remaining days and hours of my life.
May Your never-failing offer to me of Your grace
change me and my heart.
This I pray through Christ, Our Lord, Amen.
Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
