Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus
14 Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, “What will you give me if I betray him to you?” They paid him thirty pieces of silver. 16 And from that moment he began to look for an opportunity to betray Him”
Matthew 26:14-16.
I don’t know how you feel about this, but from where I sit a lot of people have rightly condemned Judas for betraying Jesus. But at the same time, every time I look in the mirror I see Judas!
My point is this: we all need to be careful condemning others when we ourselves are sinners. I am like my namesake, the Apostle Paul, who says of himself, “15 I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate” Romans 7:15.
So today can we not all agree to pray for one another that we will be faithful in our living and not do the very thing we hate?
Let’s pray about that today.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
From the Bible:
“15 I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. 16 Now if I do what I do not want, I agree that the law is good. 17 But in fact it is no longer I who do it but sin that dwells within me. 18 For I know that the good does not dwell within me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do the good lies close at hand, but not the ability. 19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. 20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it but sin that dwells within me”
Romans 7:15-20.
