In the spiritual life it does us all well to remember that when we run into difficulties, especially those we bring upon ourselves from our sinful choices, the only and best thing we can do is to seek the Lord and do whatever He tells us to do, and then give Him thanks when we do this! For more good will come to our life by doing everything God tells us to do than any other thing we ever do! This truth-filled advice comes directly from Mary, the Mother of Jesus, who said this very thing at the wedding feast in Cana when the wine ran out. Mary told the servants who came to her with the dilemma that no one wishes to face at a wedding reception: “Do whatever Jesus tells you” John 2:5.
Let us pray for one another that we each do whatever Jesus tells us to do, most especially that we love Him, and that when we do what is right, we give God thanks.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
From the Bible:
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments” John 14:15.
“Jesus said, ‘Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it’” Luke 11:28.
“Peter and the apostles answered, ‘We must obey God rather than men’”
Acts 5:29.
“Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on you” John 3:36.
“Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love you and manifest myself to you”
John 14:21.
