...faith over fear...

In Mark’s Gospel Jesus says a few short words that are so powerful to me personally, words that challenge me and shake me up:

“Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith” Mark 4:40?

Dear friends, we are all afraid of some things, if not a few things. Today consider what you are afraid of — and give them all to God in your prayer this morning. Entrust God with all of the things you are afraid of in your life.

Do not be afraid. Look at what Jesus did for all of us on the Cross. He died for the eternal forgiveness of our sins. So we have no reasons — except human reasons — to be afraid of anything. Remember, faith in God is trust in God.

So today give thanks to God for the faith you have, for trusting Him with what you fear.

Lord fill me with sufficient faith in You so that I may fear nothing anymore. Help me to have faith in You — to trust You are who You say You are and that Your Words are eternal life for me.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

From the Bible:

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” Isaiah 41:10.

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control”

2 Timothy 1:7.

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love” 1 John 4:18.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me” Psalm 23:4.
