...follow Christ...

“16 As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers. 17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of people.” 18 And immediately they left their nets and followed him. 19 As he went a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets. 20 Immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him” Mark 1:16-20.

I have felt for most of my life that the two most important words Jesus ever spoke to me are the words that appear in Mark’s Gospel text above. I have heard Jesus speak these words to me time and time again: “Follow Me!”I feel that these are the most important words that Jesus speaks to every single one of us: “Follow Me!”

To Follow Christ is the meaning and purpose of all of our lives. Take time in prayer today asking Almighty God for the grace to Follow Christ!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

From the Bible:

“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps” 1 Peter 2:21.

“Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” Matthew 16:24.

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” John 8:12.

“Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ” 1 Corinthians 11:1.
