...follow Christ...

These two words often spoken by Jesus in the Scriptures are also the two words Jesus speaks to each of us every day: “Follow Me” Luke 9:59!

Are we not all called to put to Christ this one fundamental question:“What must I do”

Mark 10:17, and to receive the precise and penetrating answer from Christ Himself. “Then, Jesus looked at him with love and told him… Come and follow Me” Mark 10:21.

This question, What must I do?, bears witness to all of our thoughts, all of our consciences, all of our hearts and wills. This question tells the world that we must all carry within ourselves a special openness with regard to what is good and what is true. For the purpose of life is nothing short of heeding the call of Christ when we each hear Him saying to us: “Follow Me. Walk in My path! Stand by My side! Remain in My love!” There is a choice to be made: a choice for Christ and His way of life and His commandment of love.

Real love Is demanding. We would all fail in our mission of life if we did not clearly follow Christ who said: “You are my friends if you do what I command you” John 15:14. Love demands effort and a personal commitment to the will of God. It means discipline and sacrifice, but it also means joy and human fulfillment.

We must all heed the call of Christ: Do not be afraid of honest effort and honest work; do not be afraid of the truth. With Christ's help, and through prayer, you can answer His call, resisting temptations and cultural influences, especially social media, and every other form of mass manipulation. We must all open our hearts to the Christ of the Gospels — to His love and His truth and His joy. Do not go away sad.

Follow Christ! All of us must follow Christ! Those of us who are sick or aging, who are suffering or in pain; whose who feel the need for healing, the need for love, the need for a friend: Follow Christ!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

From the Bible:

“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps” 1 Peter 2:21.

“Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” Matthew 16:24.

Jesus said: ““I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” John 8:12.

“Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you”

1 Corinthians 11:1-2.
