“46 Jesus said, ‘Can any of you prove Me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe Me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
This text above is one of those texts, those words of Jesus Christ, that is just hard to swallow. But it does serve us all as a reminder that our choices in life, the ways we live our lives, are really important. And here Jesus is telling us that if we even an ounce of brain matter between our two ears, we better get on with believing Jesus. We all have to stop putting this off until tomorrow, or with listening to all the crap on social media, most of which is just wrong. WHY? Because if we believe in Jesus Christ, completely and not just once in awhile, then we will hear God’s voice in our life.
People tell me all the time that they are suspicious of people who tell others that God speaks to them. We hear that and we think such people are crazy! But look at what Jesus just told us: If you believe in Jesus you will hear the voice of God in your life! I didn’t make this up.
The reason you do not hear God’s voice in your life is that you don’t belong to God, instead, you belong to your own thoughts and the thoughts and philosophies of others in your life. Stop it! Follow Christ! Listen to God, which means, take time every day to stop, sit quietly in God’s presence, and open up your bible, read and then listen. Follow Christ!
This is really the best news I have ever heard! Everyone of us can hear God’s voice. But hearing God isn’t like just turning on a hose and out will flow God’s voice. Hearing God’s voice calls us to “Be still, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10.
