Tuesday of Holy Week
“ 4 But I said, “I have labored in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely my cause is with the Lord and my reward with my God” Isaiah 49:4.
These words from the second Servant Song in Isaiah speak to someone who might have doubt about his or her life. How many times have we wondered that we have labored in vain and that our life is for nothing and vanity? Yet through the grace of God we realize, in faith, that our life is not for nothing or vanity, but our life is good because it is with the Lord and our reward is with my God.
Pray today and this week that we not live in vain, and that our sin does not push off the path that leads to nothing, but that we can live with the Lord now and forever despite our sin, and that our reward is with the my God who is the giver of all mercy and forgiveness, and who showers us with love.
Make this your certain hope and your daily prayer from your heart.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
