Today we inaugurate a new president, Donald Trump, and we celebrate the life and death of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I believe it is important that MLK is a part of this inauguration day because his life and death continue to speak to us about things that matter greatly in our lives as Americans. In many ways, I believe that MLK stands in mark contrast to President Donald Trump.
So I wrote song lyrics today about MLK. I pray his voice continues to be heard in our country.

SONG LYRICS IN HUMBLE GRATITUDE TO
THE REV. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
there comes a time in all our lives
when the call of God
falls not just upon our ears
but deep within our hearts
the call that helps us climb the mountaintop
to look beyond
for there we’ll see
how the world truly is
when we beat our swords into plowshares
For there we see war and famine, prejudice and hate,
people dying in every place
cry out for the greater command:
let us live in love
let us live in love
let us live in love
pretending each day
that someone else — not me
somewhere somehow soon will make the change
should call us all to dream
that it’s time dear friend
it’s long overdue
to stand up
and cry out for the greater command:
let us live in love
let us live in love
let us live in love
this is our world
the family of God
where the sun does not rise just at dawn
but only when we make a better choice
to open our hearts — and listen
to teach us all the truth:
let us live in love
let us live in love
let us live in love
you see, there comes a time in all our lives
when the call of God
falls not just upon our ears
but deep within our hearts
to push aside the majority
and love the family of God
so let us open our hearts and listen:
let us cry out for the greater command:
let us live in love
let us live in love
let us live in love
let us cry out for the greater command:
let us live in love
let us live in love
let us live in love
Thank you!
