Here are some more incredible verses from the First Letter of John. Read them and think deeply about they are saying TO YOU. Is God saying anything to you in these Words?
“6 This is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with the water only but with the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one that testifies, for the Spirit is the truth. 7 There are three that testify: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three agree. 9 If we receive human testimony, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has testified to his Son. 10 Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony in their hearts. Those who do not believe in God have made him a liar by not believing in the testimony that God has given concerning his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life” 1 John 5:6-12.
Before Jesus died He handed over His Spirit: “…when Jesus knew that all was now finished, He said (in order to fulfill the scripture), “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar full of sour wine was standing there. So they put a sponge full of the wine on a branch of hyssop and held it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus had received the wine, He said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and gave up His Spirit’” John 19:28-30. Water is the symbol of the Spirit, and after Jesus’ death, water flowed from His side mingled with the blood He had shed for the salvation of all: “One of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and at once blood and water came out” John 19:34. John says that there are Three that testify, Father, Word, and Spirit, and these Three are One, and these Three testify on earth in your life and in my life! You see, John clearly says that “the Spirit” is the Father: “24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and Truth” John 4:24; “the blood” is the Son; and “the Water” is the Spirit: “37 While Jesus was standing there, He cried out, ‘Let anyone who is thirsty come to me, 38 and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.’ ” 39 Now Jesus said this about the Spirit, which believers in Him were to receive, for as yet there was no Spirit because Jesus was not yet glorified” John 7:37-39.
The chief witness to Jesus (who is the Truth) is the Spirit (who as the Spirit of Jesus is also the Spirit of Truth) whom the Father has sent to give testimony about His Son. The Divine Witness, the Spirit, is the most convincing Witness possible, because through the indwelling of the Spirit because through the indwelling of the Spirit Jesus becomes part of us all!
“31 “If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true. 32 There is another who testifies on my behalf, and I know that His testimony to me is true. 33 You sent messengers to John, and he testified to the truth. 34 Not that I accept such human testimony, but I say these things so that you may be saved. 35 He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. 36 But I have a testimony greater than John’s. The works that the Father has given me to complete, the very works that I am doing, testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father who sent me has Himself testified on my behalf. You have never heard His voice or seen His form, 38 and you do not have His word abiding in you, because you do not believe Him whom He has sent. 39 You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, and it is they that testify on my behalf” John 5:31-39.
The worst sin I can ever commit is to deny the Divine Witness — who is Jesus Christ!
Oh Lord, fill me today with Your Spirit. Give me faith that believes in You in such a way that I desire to live each day as faithfully as possible. I LOVE YOU. Help me to be used by you to bring others to You. And this I pray through — in the Name of — Jesus Christ, Our Lord, Amen.
