“37 Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes” Luke 12:37.
None of us knows what life after death will be like, but my guess is that in one way or another we will be serving the Lord. In this life Jesus clearly calls us to be His servant. He is our Master and to serve Him is the purpose of our life. And in today’s text we see Jesus calling us “blessed” if we serve Him.
Take this to prayer and ask the Lord: In what can I serve you?
And remember, nothing will bring you more joy.
Take this to prayer today.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
From the Bible:
“If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him” John 12:26.
“Even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” Mark 10:45.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him” John 13:16.
“Jesus sat down and called the twelve. And He said to them, ‘If anyone would be first, you must be last of all and servant of all’” Mark 9:35.
“Jesus said, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master’” Matthew 25:21.
