...joy to you and to the world...

“Jesus said: ’33 I have said this to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution, but take courage: I have conquered the world’” John 16:33. As I mentioned yesterday, I read this passage while looking over the pacific ocean in SanDiego with my wife, as we waited to step onto the cliffs overlooking this magnificent ocean, to witness the marriage of my Son, Andy, and his wife, Nina. My prayer for them both is that they will come to know the Word of God and realize that the only peace they will ever have in life is the peace that comes in Jesus Christ.

The words of Jesus above make this point very simply and clearly: “In Me you may have peace” John 16:33. That there is no other peace anywhere in this world except in Jesus Christ, begs the question for us all: DO YOU BELIEVE JESUS? I do! And I know everything Jesus says, and everything he did, is true.

So today I invite you to sit down and pray about what Jesus is saying above. Jesus, and Jesus alone, has already conquered the world. The world has no dominion over us, no power over us, no promise given to us that exceeds the promise Jesus makes above: “In Me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution, but take courage: I have conquered the world!”

Today ask Jesus to fill you with HIS peace. We will all face many kinds of persecution from others. But we have to be courageous in the face of the persecutions we face in our personal life, because Jesus has overcome all of our persecutions, personal persecutions and global or societal persecutions.

Whatever time you have remaining on earth, lean on Jesus for your peace.

Tonight, go to church with a heart of gratitude!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
