Take a moment and read and think deeply about these words of God:
“1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the parent loves the child. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3 For the love of God is this, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome, 4 for whatever is born of God conquers the world. And this is the victory that conquers the world, our faith. 5 Who is it who conquers the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God”
1 John 5:1-5?
Are these not the most amazing words of God? Whoever believes in Jesus Christ is born of God. In other words, you are a child of God, someone who belongs to the family of God. And we can tell if we are living the most important commandment of all — if we love others. And we can also tell if we truly love others when we love God and keep His commandments.
And if we want to be certain that we know what the love of God is — we just have to obey God! In other words, if you do what God tells you to do, you can be certain that you love God. And don’t worry, it’s not hard to do what God wants you to do. Because if you believe in Jesus Christ you are a member of His family, and so the world will never overcome you or overwhelm you. Your faith in Jesus Christ is all you will ever need to live your life here on earth.
Believing that Jesus is the Son of God is all you will ever need — and never forget that!
