...know Jesus...

Consider this dramatic interaction between Peter and Jesus:

15 Jesus said to His disciples, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” Matthew 16:15-19.

To know Jesus, to know who He truly is, demands the loving grace of God who draws us into His heart to know Him. To know Jesus demands that Our Father in heaven reveals Him to us. Such knowledge is not intellectual knowledge, but personal love of Jesus in our heart. I have said this many times, but the greatest journey in life is the shortest, the journey from our head to our heart.ly,

Take time today and pray that the Lord will draw you into His presence, deeply and lovingly, so that you may come to know Him. Truly know Him. Remember that knowing Jesus is loving Jesus, obeying Jesus, and following Christ! Pray for that today!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

From the Bible:

Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16.

“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent” John 17:3.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 6:23.

“On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld’” John 20:19-23.

“And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments”

1 John 2:3.

“‘This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.’ The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, ‘How can this man give us his flesh to eat?’ So Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day …’” John 6:50-71.
