More and more do I see life as a very short journey to learn to live life from the center, from the center which is where God resides, for this is the only true way to discover the boundaries or edges that are worth maintaining and those that are important to surrender. But this is the struggle of life which brings dark nights and regrettable shame. Learning which boundaries to maintain and which boundaries to surrender, from my experience, has everything to do with being who the Lord demands that I be in life — with obedience to God.
Take time today and reflect on this passage from Paul:
25 Now to God who is able to strengthen you according to the gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages 26 but is now disclosed, and through the prophetic writings is made known to all the Gentiles, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith — 27 to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever! Amen” Romans 16:25-27.
To learn the right boundaries requires us listening to a Voice beyond our own. God is only interested in bringing about in all of us the “obedience of faith” through Jesus Christ. So listen to the voice of Jesus Christ we must! This is the only way we ever have access to knowing who we truly are — through Jesus Christ! Augustine was so right when he said: “Our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee (God).” There is no other place to find rest and safety and certainty in life except when we live and see life through the eyes of God where everything belongs. There is no other way to live life that keeps us on the one and only task in life - to love God and others and to be in union with Jesus Christ. This is the reason to pray and read and think deeply about the Scriptures!
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on a sinner.
From the Bible:
25 Now to God who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages 26 but is now disclosed, and through the prophetic writings is made known to all the Gentiles, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— 27 to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever! Amen” Romans 16:25-27.
