I just heard today that Putin last night ordered the largest bombardment on Ukraine in the two-year-old war, destroying hospitals, nurseries, homes and small businesses, and hitting hi-rises as well. He did this as winter sets in, wishing to beat down the will of these innocent victims. Why? Because he wants to go down in history as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, leader in the history of Russia. Sadly, he will be remembered as the cruelest and most destructive leader in their history.
I beg you, pray today for an end to the war. Pray for peace. Peace in Ukraine, peace in Israel and Gaza. Do not let a day pass in 2024 without praying for peace.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me and on all of us, for we are all sinners. Please bring us peace, for we cannot bring about peace on our own. Stop Russia and Ukraine from killing. Stop Israel and Hamas from killing. Stop the hatred that lives within all our hearts. Stop the escalating threat of nuclear war around the world.
Let the lyrics to this wonderful contemporary song be our prayer this day:
“Lord, I Need You” by Matt Maher
… Lord I come, I confess
Bowing here, I find my rest
Without You, I fall apart
You're the one that guides my heart
… Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour, I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
… Where sin runs deep, Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are, Lord, I am free
Holiness is Christ in me
… Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour, I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
… So teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand, I'll fall on You
Jesus, You're my hope and stay
… Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour, I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
You're my one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
… My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
