Brother Lawrence reminds us to remember that our heart is the first thing to have life, and that it is our heart that keeps our bodies alive throughout life, and so it is our heart that should be the first and the last to love the Lord and to worship Him! So when we begin and end each day of our life may we begin and end each day in worship of the Lord with our heart! To pray and to be in the presence of God is indeed our act of worship of God, and such worship is always from our heart. To love God and to worship God always are linked together, and so that is how we must begin and end each day of our life. May everything we do in our life each day begin and end in love and in worship of You, dear Lord! The goal of life, according to BL, is to begin and finish everything we do in love and worship of God! And it is in our heart that this occurs. It is, as BL reminds us, an interior gaze of our heart on God! This is the path, the practice, the goal, the great desire of our heart! In all the affairs and business of our daily life pray that our heart may be turned to the love and worship of God.
Oh Lord, today let me begin to open my heart to loving You and worshiping You in everything I do today. And so I pray that You, dear Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, would have mercy on me a sinner for not turning my heart to loving and worshiping You. And this I pray in Your Name, Jesus Christ Our Lord, Amen.
