One of the most reassuring truths about God, truths that Jesus spoke, it seems to me, are these simple words: “I am not alone because the Father is with Me” John 16:32. What is so comforting and reassuring in these words is that Jesus spoke is that you and I are also never alone because Jesus is always with us. In the final verse of Matthew’s Gospel Jesus reassures us of this truth: “Remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age” Matthew 28:20.
Just think about this for a minute. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are always united in a single God. And you and I are always united in a single God, even when we sin. God is always with us to love us, to forgive us, and to bring us back to Him. What comfort! What joy, What love! What mercy.
So if we are never alone because God is always with us, then let us pray for each other that we will remain faithful to God, and when we leave god because of our sin, we may be pulled back into the heart of Jesus Christ by His merciful grace. And if we know others who do not believe in Jesus Christ, let us pray for all ho ignore Jesu. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the unity of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
From the Bible:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you” Deuteronomy 31:6.
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you” John 14:18.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” Proverbs 3:5-6.
