...no more desertion...

“Then all the disciples deserted him and fled” Matthew 26:56.

When Jesus was arrested by a large crowd of thugs in the Garden of Gethsemane on Thursday evening, a short time after the conclusion of the Passover Supper, one of the saddest  sentences in the Bible was written down by Matthew: “Then all the disciples deserted him and fled” Matthew 26:56.

The only other sentence that is sadder, is the personal one: “I have once again deserted Him and fled.” The disciples of Jesus fled Jesus and deserted Him, something they did again and again and again, just as you and I have deserted Jesus and fled, time and time again!

Take time and return to Jesus in prayer today!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

From the Bible:

“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths” 2 Timothy 4:3-4.

“The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent” Acts 17:30.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9.
