49 “I am not possessed by a demon,” said Jesus, “but I honor my Father and you dishonor Me. 50 I am not seeking glory for Myself; but there is One who seeks it, and He is the judge. 51 Very truly I tell you, whoever obeys My Word will never see death” John 8:49-51.
These are very sobering words of Jesus Christ, words that challenge us about how short life is and about how crucial it is for us all to honor God for who He is. Jesus’ entire life with us was in honor of His Father in heaven, who is also Our Father in heaven. Here Jesus calls unto obey Him and to obey His Word. So this is a call to read the Bible, think deeply about it, and be still in the presence of God so that He can speak to us. When we sin we all need to run back to God for His mercy so that we can live this day obeying His Word.
We will all be judged by God, so let us live sober lives, following God, listening to his Word, and obeying everything He tells us to do. Let us pray for one another that we will not dishonor God by our disobedience.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
