Yesterday I compared Jesus’ healing prayer to our healing prayer, and I know many of you probably thought that we can’t compare ourselves to Jesus — and you’re correct. There is a big difference between Jesus’ healing prayer and our healing prayer: because Jesus is the Son of God He had the power in Himself to change things. He could forgive sins and heal the sick immediately. “Everyone in the crowd was trying to touch him, for power came out from him and healed all of them” Luke 6:19. The mission of Jesus Christ was to save us and rescue us from eternal death. This was why He came. He loved every person and he saw us all as His brothers and sisters, and so He couldn’t stand to see them wounded and hurting, any more than we can stay by and watch people suffer without praying for their healing.
Jesus still today wants to heal in extraordinary ways. Today the healing of Jesus Christ is meant to be just as common as it was when Jesus walked on this earth. You too can see this if you pray. You will see the healing power of Jesus when you pray, and you will see it in your family and among your friends.
I have a dear friend who asks every waiter and waitress who serves him in a restaurant if they have anything they need prayers for. I have no doubt that the prayers of my friend have healed many people. You too can do the same
So pray. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
From the Bible:
“Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” James 5:16.
“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul” 3 John 1:2.
“And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction” Matthew 10:1.
“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay” Matthew 10:8.
