In my daily meditations I got smacked in the face by these words of Jesus from John’s Gospel: “Jesus replied, ‘36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed’” John 8:36.
Oh my, don’t we all wish and pray to be set free by the unique and personal things in our life, especially our sin, that has caused us so much personal strife?!
Take time today and examine your life and turn to Jesus and beg Him for His sufficient grace to follow Him, to live apart from sin, and to be forgiven.
Consider the promise about of Jesus Christ, as it is an exceptional and most powerful promise: “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed!”
Lord, please set me free from everything that separates me from You.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
From the Bible:
“And, having been set free from sin, we have become slaves of righteousness”
Romans 6:18.
“What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his…”
Romans 6:1-23.
“Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed’”
John 8:34-36.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9.
