...the cause of Christ...

Saturday of the Fourth Week of Lent

18

It was the Lord who made it known to me, and I knew; then you showed me their deeds.

19

But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter. And I did not know it was against me that they devised schemes, saying,“Let us destroy the tree with its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, so that his name will no longer be remembered!”

20

But you, O Lord of hosts, who judge righteously, who try the heart and the mind, let me see your retribution upon them, for to you I have committed my cause”

Jeremiah 11:18-20.

Here we see that Jeremiah’s life is threatened, as a harbinger of the threat of Jesus’ life, a threat that is becoming closer and closer to happening. In just two weeks we will face the death once again of Jesus’ life. Death is something we will all face. Can we say at the end of our life what Jeremiah said of his life: “For to You I have committed my cause.”

Take time today in prayer and ask the Lord to turn you back to living the remaining days and hours of your life committed to the cause of Jesus Christ. To love everyone, to be forgiving, and to work tirelessly to turn all whom God brings your way to turn to the Lord! Today pray for the mercy and forgiveness and love of God. Take time to pray slowly The Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father in heaven,

we praise Your holy name.

May Your Kingdom come

and your will be done

on earth as it is done in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread,

and forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who have sinned against us.

Lead us, not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For the Kingdom, the power, and the glory

belong to You,

now and forever, amen.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,

the love of God,

and the unity of the Holy Spirit,

be with you all!
