...the TRUTH...

When I read the Bible I see many times when Jesus reveals who He is, and He does so with great clarity. One such self-revelation of Jesus occurs in John, chapter 7: “28 Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, “Yes, you know Me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on My own authority, but He who sent Me is true. You do not know Him, 29 but I know Him because I am from Him and He sent Me” John 7:28-29. This is so reassuring to me because it lets me know that all of us can come to know Jesus Christ personally and intimately. “You know Me and you know where I am from” assures Jesus! It doesn’t matter who you are. Your race, your sex, your religion, your income, everyone can know Jesus and from where He comes, and you don’t need a PhD for this. Then Jesus says He is sent by His Father in heaven, whom we do not know, but Jesus knows Him because He and His Father are One God of us all.

This assures us all that Jesus and the Father are true, for Jesus is incapable of speaking anything but the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, because He is the Truth. Jesus reaffirms this fact later in chapter 14 of John’s Gospel when He says: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know Me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him” John 14:6-7. Here Jesus explains that the way we come to know Our Father in heaven is through Jesus Christ. So not only does Jesus know the father, but we also know the Father because we know Jesus the Son of God. And this is a fact, not an hypothesis, not an educated guess, not a statement blinded by a faith without a brain, but because Jesus says HE IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE.

So resist the temptation to get “cute” with the Bible, and trust Jesus, trust what he says is true, because He IS THE TRUTH. He cannot lie.

Remember that in life there are three great questions we all ask of ourselves: 1. Where did I come from?, 2. Who am I?, and 3. Where am I going? You have to know the answer to the 1st question in order to answer the 2nd question. And you have to know the answer to the 2nd question in order to answer the 3rd question. The great questions of life have to be answered sequentially! Jesus’ self-revelation has just helped us answer these questions.

And isn’t this incredible and great news!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

Bring this to prayer today.
