I have been reading and praying and studying John’s Gospel and today I read this from chapter 7: “28 Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, “Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him, 29 but I know him because I am from him and he sent me”
John 7:28-29. Again, what spoke to me in this great self-revelation of Jesus was His most reassuring words, His promise, that we can all know Christ and who he is! Jesus is from God our father in heaven, and Jesus was sent by God. And then He promises us all that both Jesus Christ and the Father are TRUE!
One thing our life hangs on is the fact that He keeps His promises. As i see it, everyone in the world lives under some authority. Life and the world is structured in this truth. We are not our own creator or saviors, nor do we create our ow authority by which we live. I live under the authority of God and His Word, His grace and love, and His mercy. So what this assures me is that everything God - through Jesus - says is TRUE. God is a Promise Keeper. For sure my life under the authority of God is sometimes sinful by my choice. I try sometimes to slip out from under the authority of God.
Bur here’s the truth: God is TRUE! Everything He says through Jesus and His Holy spirit is TRUE. You can lean on and depend completely on God. Today live as if you believe this. let you prayer be in the presence of God who is TRUE.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.
From the Bible:
“And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent” John 17:3.
“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life”1 John 5:20.
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created” Revelation 4:11.
“But the Lord is the true God; he is the living God and the everlasting King. At his wrath the earth quakes, and the nations cannot endure his indignation” Jeremiah 10:10.
