...trust...no verification needed...

22 Immediately after healing the crowd, Jesus made the disciples get into a boat and go on ahead to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds. 23 And after He had dismissed the crowds, Jesus went up the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone, 24 but by this time the boat, battered by the waves, was far from the land, for the wind was against them. 25 And early in the morning He came walking toward them on the sea. 26 But when the disciples saw Jesus walking on the sea, they were terrified, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them and said, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid” Matthew 14:22-27.

If only we trust Jesus when we are going through tough times in life!

Instead, we often worry, fill our time talking with close family or friends about the struggles we are experiencing. The last thing we often do is to trust God. The last thing we do is to head off to a quiet place to be quiet in the presence of God. The last thing we do instead of worrying about fretting about our pain is to help others.

This story speaks to me about what happens when we face difficulties and troubles in life on our own. We fight the problem and try to do everything within our power to figure out how to resolve or get along with this problem.

We ask ourselves: “How can I find a port in the storm I am facing in life?”

Look what Jesus does, in contrast to what we do! “Jesus went up the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone…” Matthew 14:23.

Instead of trusting Jesus with whatever we are facing, we “cry out to God in fear” (Verse 26)! We forget that Jesus will take care of us. We forget that Jesus “will walk on water” for us! When we get so wrapped up in our pain and fears, when get so wrapped up in ourselves, we forget what Jesus is constantly saying to us every single day of our lives: “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid. I got you covered. TRUST ME! I will get you through this mess. I will help you. I love You.”

We forget what Jesus promised us just two chapters earlier: “28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” Matthew 12: 28-30.

Today I invite you to TRUST JESUS with whatever you are worried about. Take time today and sit quietly in His presence, and say nothing and think of nothing except His presence — right now — in your life. For His yoke is easy and His burden is light for you to carry. TRUST JESUS!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

From the Bible:

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding” Proverbs 3:5.

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday” Psalm 37:4-6.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” Romans 8:28.
