...who do you love?...

8 Yet I am writing you a new commandment that is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. 9 Whoever says, “I am in the light,” while hating a brother or sister, is still in the darkness. 10 Whoever loves a brother or sister abides in the light, and in such a person there is no cause for stumbling. 11 But whoever hates a brother or sister is in the darkness, walks in the darkness, and does not know the way to go, because the darkness has brought on blindness” 1 John 2:8-11.

Here God is simply telling us through John that we are to love our brothers and sisters, and He means that we are to love all - everybody - as He loves others. We don’t pick and choose who we love, or else we are inviting God to do the same. Jesus told us, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another” John 13:34.

Dear friends, this is about as clear as Jesus could ever possibly be.

Don’t judge! Don’t listen to what social media tells you about loving so-and-so! LISTEN TO WHAT JESUS SAYS! LOVE OTHERS THE WAY YOU WANT GOD TO LOVE YOU!

“You love one another; as I (Jesus Christ) have loved you, that you also love one another!”

Bring that to you Advent prayer…and swallow it into your hearts!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on me a sinner.

From the Bible:

26 Whoever comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and even life itself, cannot be my disciple” Luke 14:26.

17 And a voice from the heavens said, “This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased” Matthew 3:17.

12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you” John 15:12.
